Elevating the presence and understanding of Greek wine through experiences
Greek Wine Week is a not for profit, grassroots festival founded in Toronto in 2023 with a simple goal: to elevate the presence and understanding of Greek wine through experiences that connect people to the culture, producers, and stories behind the bottle.
What began as a small series of events created by passionate advocates for Greek wine has grown into the first festival of its kind dedicated entirely to the wines of Greece. Today, Greek Wine Week brings together consumers, hospitality professionals, media, and trade through winemaker dinners, tastings, masterclasses, and collaborations with restaurants and cultural partners across the city.
Guided by the ancient Greek concept of moderation, the festival celebrates wine as it has long been enjoyed in Greece: alongside food, conversation, and hospitality.
Each year, winery representatives travel from Greece to participate in the festival, offering guests the opportunity to meet the people behind the wines and explore Greece’s indigenous grape varieties and historic wine regions.
Our Mandate
Our mandate is to:
- Promote Greek wine and its indigenous varietals to Canadian consumers and hospitality professionals
- Provide a platform for Greek producers to connect directly with the market
- Support education around Greece’s wine regions, history, and culture
- Foster collaboration between wineries, restaurants, media, and the hospitality community
- Build a lasting cultural and economic bridge between Greece and Canada through wine
- Promote responsible enjoyment through the ancient Greek concept of moderation
Greek Wine Week champions the wines of Greece and the people who produce them through accessible, engaging, and educational experiences that inspire discovery and appreciation.
